Supporting the Fight Against Women’s Cancers

A recent weekend in Toronto was dedicated to the support of fighting cancers that afflict women with thousands of people walking the streets dressed in pink shirts, ultimately raising over $10million by the Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women's Cancer which will be given to The Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret Hospital for cancer research. While there were some male participants, the majority of walkers were women clad in bright pink sunglasses and flowery hats. It was very emotional since everyone walking is affected – either personally or with someone they love. Raising awareness of women’s cancers is extremely important and today, there are many organizations trying to do just this. Indeed, the Women’s Cancer Research Fund –co-founded by Jamie Tisch – works hard to raise monies for research and prevention of women’s cancers and, as a result of all its efforts, has seriously made a difference in the lives of many women.
